Dr Daniel Fleming retired in 2019. He asked Dr David Topchian to continue the practice and care for the thousands of patients that had breast implant surgery with Dr Fleming.

Prior to retiring, Dr Fleming was at the forefront of the Australian cosmetic surgery industry for over 20 years. Throughout his career he performed thousands of surgeries, including more than 5500 breast augmentation operations since 1995.

Dr Fleming taught advanced breast augmentation techniques to plastic and cosmetic surgeons from Australia and around the world and had given educational presentations at specialist surgical meetings in Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Australia.

In addition to his educational presentations, Dr Fleming is an acknowledged world expert in the use of polyurethane foam covered (P-URE foam) breast implants, which have been proven to reduce complications in breast augmentation surgery. He introduced P-URE foam implants to Australia in 2004 and wrote the chapter on polyurethane foam covered implants in the textbook “Biomaterials in Plastic Surgery: Breast Implants” (Woodhead Publishing, Cambridge).

There are several educational videos on this site that Dr Fleming produced for patients. These are still largely relevant and helpful to patients considering cosmetic breast surgery and breast implants.

A former President of the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery, Dr Fleming was the first Australian surgeon to submit the results of his cosmetic surgery to external assessment. Independent research conducted by Griffith University and Roy Morgan revealed that 90% of Dr Fleming’s patients reported that their expectations were met or exceeded and that 99% of patients would recommend him to a friend or relative.
